Urban Music Workshops
Our urban music workshops give comprehensive experience of working with Rap and DJ techniques. Beat-matching and scratching techniques are explores alongside composition, lyric writing, rhyme, music production and self-promotion.Professionals with a wide range of experience in the music industry motivate and empower all participants to create their own original material.
Award-winning performers demonstrate their skills and give step-by-step instruction in methods of breakdancing and bodypopping and offer advice on ways to pursue a professional career in urban dance, Workshops can also be designed to include elements of urban street art, giving groups the opportunity to create an original backdrop to their event.
Performance, Recording and Producing
We employ professionals with a wide range of experience in the music industry, to motivate and empower all participants to create their own original material.We are able to design exciting and innovative projects, to enable groups to vocalise issues and express themselves through Music, Movement and Dance. Workshops provide an insight into the industry and the necessary skills to succeed. They are a powerful way to motivate, inspire and focus energy in a positive and non-competitive way.
Different skills drawn from the range of workshops we offer can be combined to explore issues such as crime, violence and drugs abuse, or to simply have fun and produce something new.
Examples of some of the workshops we run include:
- DJ, Mixing & Scratching – ‘Hands-on’ experience of working with up-to-date techniques.
- Breakdancing and Bodypopping – Award winning performers demonstrate their skills and give step-by-step instruction in methods of movement.
- MC and Rap – Highly accomplished artists explore techniques of composition, lyric writing, rhyme, music production and self-promotion.
- Rapport (rapping in other languages) – In this specialised workshop, rap artists work alongside language specialists to create meaningful lyrics in other languages. This is an excellent method in which to study languages and to celebrate different cultures and traditions, in a fun and accessible way. Workshops can also be designed to include creative literacy, such as rapping childrens stories and nursery rhymes.
